The federal government gets about 50% of its revenue from income taxes. If #robots 🤖 replace the human workforce, that funding disappears. Both agreed there needs to be a shift in tax burden from #labor to #capital. There's a limit to how much you can increase corporate taxes on #capital gains without having problems with that, but there are also ways that you can increase the share paid by businesses of capital, and decrease that pain on labor to have a fairer system https://mitsloan.mit.edu/ideas-made-to-matter/case-taxing-robots-or-not
The case for taxing robots — or not | MIT Sloan

MIT Sloan

Over the past four decades, #automation has increased productivity and multiplied corporate profits, but it has not led to shared prosperity in industrialized countries. In many #OECD economies, we have seen an increase in #income taxes and a decrease in #capital taxes. This system incentivizes companies to invest more in automation than in job-creating technologies. Corporate tax rates have plummeted to 25%; the #tax for workers decreased only 1.3 % to 34.9% https://english.elpais.com/technology/2025-11-30/if-ai-replaces-workers-should-it-also-pay-taxes.html

If AI replaces workers, should it also pay taxes?

The technological race among industry giants and the wave of layoffs they have announced has revived the debate about the advisability of taxing automation

Il Tempo: Ricerca, oncoematologo Locatelli: "Terapie avanzate curano patologie genetiche o acquisite"

Roma, 2 apr.

Researcher, oncologist Locatelli: "Advanced therapies cure genetic or acquired pathologies”

Rome, April 2 (Adnkronos Salute) – “Advanced therapies represent the frontier of medicine as they allow us to obtain potentially curative approaches thanks to the use of genetically modified somatic cells of numerous diseases, whether hereditary or acquired. Implementing these structures and activating clinical trials allows us to offer therapeutic responses to numerous patients, including pediatric patients, with pathologies that compromise their survival prospects and their quality of life.” This was stated by Franco Locatelli, Director of the Department of Onco-Hematology and Cell and Gene Therapy at the Irccs Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, today in the Capital, speaking at the event ‘The Future is Now’, an initiative marking the conclusion of the PNRR phase of the National Center for Gene Therapy and RNA-based drug development. During the meeting, scientific results, strategic infrastructure created, and guarantees for operational continuity post-2026 were presented. “We have been able to activate CAR-T therapies – Locatelli reiterated – These are immune cells modified to be redirected to a specific target, in the context of solid tumors, central nervous system neoplasms, acute leukemias, for which there were no commercially available products, and also in the context of autoimmune diseases, obtaining, in this setting, a real restructuring of the immune system.”
