After a too long hiatus, I'm bringing back some new music recs, trying focus on things off radar, but will mix in some low hanging fruit. I'll bounce around genre, etc as much as possible. See how it goes. Gonna shoot for one album each weekday, but may forget every once in a while.

Ultrasonic Grand Prix: Instafuzz

Kind of a supergroup of dudes you don't know, but probably should. Just straight up sweet fuzzed out garage rock shit. Every track pretty much scratches the itch. Start listening now and you'll have your windows-down rockers ready to go by the time the weather turns spring.

Enjoy!

Joel Ross: nublues

I am a sucker for the vibraphone and there are few better playing it than Ross. He just kind of *gets* it in a very fundamental way. That's very clearly the case here, a gorgeous, compelling jazz that's simultaneously traditional and progressive. One of the best jazz records released this winter (and there have been some doozies!). Enjoy!

Missed yesterday, but hopefully make up for it with this excellent debut I'm pretty sure isn't on your radar. Instrumental tape-is-rolling studio jams from this new Brooklyn quintet. Not just afrobeat, but the dankesy, darkest afrobeat you'll find. Not happy, let's-dance funky, but more like evil-lurks-within funk. Lots of baritone sax and irresistible groove. This outfit from Leeds always crushes, but this one feels a little extra. Enjoy!

I discovered this one because Sam Cohen plays on one of the tracks & I kind of love everything he does. Well, he produced the whole album and brings his good stuff to the whole record.
