When someone clicks on your link (containing
"ns_source=twitter", "ns_campaign=bbc_live", and the unique identifiers) it tells the BBC servers that the their (ethically bereft) marketing spend on the fascist-friendly Twitter/X platform is working. That is despite the fact the traffic is coming from your activity here.
Moreover, link tracking is antithetical to the non-commercial nature of Mastodon.
Please also consider editing the posts in this thread, replacing the link you've used with the one above. Unless, of course, your goal is to help fund the Elon Communication Putsch.
