Quindici anni dopo l’omicidio di Vittorio, “Vik” Arrigoni” avvenuta la notte tra il 14 e il 15 aprile 2011 a Gaza City per mano di sedicenti salafiti, la sua voce continua a parlarci e soprattutto a essere ascoltata. Il libro che la giornalista Anna Maria Selini ha scritto per Altreconomia con le illustrazioni di Fogliazza, “Caro Vik ti scrivo. Lettere e reportage da Oslo a Gaza”, è la testimonianza più tangibile del fatto che Vittorio non è mai morto veramente. I suoi scritti, le sue analisi, i suoi video, che ancora riempiono YouTube, ci parlano di Gaza all’inizio degli anni Duemila, ma anche di Gaza oggi. Perché i semi dell’erba velenosa e maligna che Vik aveva visto sbarcando dalla Freedom Flotilla, con cui era arrivato a Gaza nell’agosto del 2008, erano già lì: La Striscia era già un campo di concentramento a cielo aperto voluto dal governo israeliano. Quello che Vittorio non ha potuto vedere, glielo racconta Selini attraverso lettere che ripercorrono gli avvenimenti dal 7 ottobre 2023 in poi, lettere che riannodano i fili della memoria partendo dalla speranza tradita e dalla grande illusione degli Accordi di Oslo fino al genocidio in diretta che abbiamo visto e continuiamo a vedere a Gaza, anche ora, dopo che la tregua di Trump si è imposta solo sulla carta e mai nella vita dei gazawi.

Fifteen years after the murder of Vittorio “Vik” Arrigoni, which occurred on the night of April 14th and 15th, 2011 in Gaza City by self-proclaimed Salafists, his voice continues to speak to us and, above all, to be heard. The book that journalist Anna Maria Selini wrote for Altreconomia with the illustrations of Fogliazza, “Dear Vik, I’m Writing to You. Letters and Reportage from Oslo to Gaza,” is the most tangible testimony that Vittorio never truly died. His writings, his analyses, his videos, which still fill YouTube, speak to us about Gaza at the beginning of the 2000s, but also about Gaza today. Because the seeds of the poisonous and malicious grass that Vik had seen disembarking from the Freedom Flotilla, with which he had arrived in Gaza in August 2008, were already there: The Strip was already an open-air concentration camp intended by the Israeli government. What Vittorio was unable to see, Selini tells us through letters that trace the events from October 7, 2023 onwards, letters that reconnect the threads of memory from the betrayed hope and the great illusion of the Oslo Accords to the genocide in real time that we have seen and continue to see in Gaza, even now, after the Trump truce was imposed only on paper and never in the lives of the Gazans.

Yesterday, it suddenly started raining nonstop from 10 o'clock until morning and continued throughout the day. It was very heavy and torrential rain, and as usual, we hadn't been there long before water began to surround us from all sides, the flimsy tents started to tear, and water flooded us from every direction.
