Germany once again leading the #MastodonMigration: The parliament of the federal state of #RheinlandPfalz stops posting to #X/#Twitter and will use #Mastodon instead.

It speaks of problematic developments under #ElonMusk and says, that for example #Nazi content is now barely moderated over there. And also that the significance of Twitter shrinks.

Here it is: @ltrlp

„Hier twitterte die Verwaltung des #ltrlp“ Landtag stellt Kommunikation auf „X“ ein

Die Social Media Plattform „X“, vormals Twitter, steht seit der Übernahme durch den Unternehmer Elon Musk unter anhaltender Kritik. Der rheinland-pfälzische Landtag stellt als Konsequenz aus der problematischen Entwicklung des Mikroblogging-Dienst seine dortige Kommunikation bis auf Weiteres ein.

@mho @ltrlp

What’s nice about mastodon posting is that its also just an RSS feed if they choose to promote it. You don’t even need a mastodon account to follow it.

@mho @ltrlp I often wonder how Germany deals with social media in general. Because some of the right-wing content, is, point blank, illegal. Criminal. Someone could argue that it is the product of foreign agents trying to promote Nazi-ism in a country where that is illegal. Bottom line is that internet needs specific regulation. It's broadcasting.
@mho @ltrlp und jetzt alle. Kommt rüber, ist nett hier 🌻
@mho @ltrlp One of the reasons I left Twitter was because I reported holocaust-denying content that claimed Nazis were the victims and they got back to me saying it didn't constitute hate speech and the tweet in question would stand.

@avhuffelen

De volgende stap.... Want wat zijn NL politici en journalisten verslaafd aan (X)itter.

@mho @ltrlp @gbhnews (pls see the OP above👆) How can we get city of Boston & Cambridge to join Mastodon??! We need them here, preferably on their own instances, and communities, place to communicate local issues.

@otterX @mho @ltrlp @CityOfBoston and @wutrain have accounts on the better.boston instance but I'm not sure how often they are here.

Typically, when I talk to people about Mastodon the main reason people are not investing time here is the small user base.

@gbhnews @otterX @mho @ltrlp @CityOfBoston @wutrain

Electeds will not show up here until the local community is active. I'm trying my best to organize and connect with folks in my local community - but bootstrapping is a hard sell.

To get people here, what can you do so that politicians show up?
Evangelism of this space as a non-corporate, non walled-garden commons helps. Posting and boosting things you want to see here, helps. Organizing with likeminded people here helps. Calling out nonsense here (assorted -isms and -phobias) so that marginalized groups have better experiences helps.

@knizer @gbhnews 👍
I tweeted to city of Cambridge while ago, prompting them to post to Mastodon, but ignored (probably coz twttr notification sucks). I thought they’d be one of the first municipality to be here, being the “people’s republic of Cantabrigia” 😂

@otterX

A better world is possible, we just need to work together to see the change happen. What else might you try that gets you the desired result you want?

@knizer glad to hear that you sound as optimistic as I am. I just do my best to walk the talk.
@otterX I am trying to stay optimistic, surely, but my friend, staying this way all the time is hard. serenity_prayer.gif
@knizer oh, tell me about it. It is not easy. Pls keep up the good work!

@gbhnews @mho @ltrlp @CityOfBoston @wutrain oh I thought that was done by some benevolent person, reposting the city of Boston tweets here. (It doesn’t look “official” to me.) 😆

Too bad if those people were to join, they would be making it bigger. Everything starts somewhere smallish. We the people make things happen by participating, I believe.
Anyway, thank You for being here.

@otterX @gbhnews @mho @ltrlp @CityOfBoston @wutrain

some are here. my US Rep (@SeanCasten) is and posts regularly. but yes, the House needs an instance.

It's not about the #Quote. It's about the CONTEXT. Context is everything. But without civil engagement, strangers popup & TALK AT an OP without even knowing what's what.

How To Be an Evolved Entrepreneur or World-Class Leader

@B2 @mho @ltrlp if we're talking about how to engage then how about some of these: 1. Using url shorteners that hide domains is bad practice for filters, 2. CAPS for random words that BREAKS flow just to GRAB attention, 3. Labeling some people evolved as if evolution has a goal or is about individuals instead of groups, 4. Appealing to a famous person as an authority outside of their area of expertise, and 5. Including quotes that are either wrong, meaningless, or only used to placate

麻烦.

Sb, come babysit this MF.

We're too busy for entitled toxic kids.

@B2 Moderation levels definitely depends on the server, but moderation on Mastodon is leaps and bounds better because users have complete control over the moderation. They can even run their own servers if they want to have absolute control over the moderation (along with security, privacy, performance, stability, and other things that are important to individuals).

@KuJoe Nice is my default. But I'm human. A solutionist. Not naïve. Aware that we all have 24hrs. Some come to poison your well. Others, to genuinely engage.

Just because it is one of the most beautiful translations of a German state: #rheinlandpfalz becomes Rhineland-Palatinate. Granted, it's also beautiful apart from translations.
