Just a casual reminder that in 1869 it was decided to have 9 Supreme Court justices because there were 9 Circuit Courts.
Now there are 13 Circuit Courts. So what exactly are we waiting for?

@Strandjunker We're waiting for a Dem. Senate super majority and a Dem. majority House, with a Dem. president. Otherwise raising SCOTUS to 13 Justices will never pass. Just like ERA/reproductive rights, voting rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and anything but White Supremacy and corporate rule.
GOP hate Blacks and control women and children to rape at will. Like their jealous god promised.
Oh well. We've regressed 70 yrs. but at least Hillary's emails got exposed. That's what's important. 🙄
@dragonsidedd @Strandjunker @nuintari Maybe.. though that sounds pretty complicated. I did see something about an 18 year term limit. They explained that this would mean every president would have to appoint 2 judges each term. Not sure how that would work if confirmations could be blocked, but it seems better than what we have.
Honestly, I'd like to see term limits (with re-election limits as well) for every office.
@XenoPhage @Strandjunker @nuintari
You just do that.
Then you implement more mitigating policies.
. Term limits max. 18 years.
https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/ethics-scandals-show-need-supreme-court-term-limits
. Implement, monitor and punish ethics violations.
. Each president during his 4 year period can appoint 2 SC judges.
and more.
@Strandjunker While you're sorting that out, it would be a really good idea to fix the separation of executive, Legislature, and judiciary. No judges should ever be political appointments.
UK is fucked up in a bunch of ways, but I think we got *that* bit right.
Between expanding the court and impeaching the #Injustices who have betrayed the public trust, we have a lot of work to do.
