I assume the engineers are paid better and have a looser dress code and other rules. The engineers' hours are probably a lot worse, though, and the demands probably even stupider.
And at least the lawyers aren't trapped by an H1B visa at a time when there's a lot of laid-off software engineers.

There's a lot of speculation they're a lot of what's left.
I can't imagine anyone with a lot of options staying and putting up with his nonsense, while he berates them and cuts the perks and guarantees any equity they built is worthless.
But an H1B holder, if they quit, has to find a new sponsor within weeks. They have to do it while competing with tens of thousands of laid-off software engineers. If they look while still at Twitter, they might anger him.
"Elon Musks Lawyer" would be a good fit for a college humor sketch. Like when they did nick cages Agent.
@mmasnick just to add some visibility, here's the link you provide to help journalists (and anyone else who needs to communicate with the public) migrate away from Twitter:
@mmasnick Trained Illegally is my screenplay about street-smart pickpocket who’s family is killed by corpo-fascist cabal and is taught brutal hand-to-hand combat by a disgraced Tibetan monk and returns to the streets of Neo-Mumbai to seek her vengeance.
Lawsuit time.
Republican donors are very keen on the concept of "captive consumers".
When does that switch from "captive consumers" to just plain "captive"?
The Gas and Oil Party is also crazy for captive markets and captive employees & captive vendors.
Especially captive markets for oil.
Republicans are creating the Company Store economy.
