lime@BenjaminNelan @benschwarz @voltagex don't know how it is on Apple, but in Android you can tailor the notification permissions afterward. As long as the publisher is not completely evil, you can mute the ad/nag notifications and leave on the notification types you want.

Daisy Leigh@voltagex @benschwarz I switched from LIFX to Hue and they’re way more stable and I haven’t seen shit like this yet. No ragrets so far.
@benschwarz @voltagex Yeah that was the reason I went LIFX at first, but I’ve had connectivity problems with lights that were 1-2m from my WAP.
As for the box, in theory the Hue bulbs will work with any Zigbee hub (that’s not vendor locked), but I’ve yet to test that.
@daisy if I can get my Zigbee stuff stable I might give it a crack - there's currently one Zigbee bulb in here that can't be reset or rejoined to any network.
@voltagex once I can get my hands on a HomeAssistant Yellow I’ll try switching my Hue bulbs over to that.
@daisy would be very keen to hear your experiences if you do. I also have a spare HomeAssistant SkyConnect if you'd like it.
