@OhNoSheTwitnt The last 4 decades of abortion discussions online have all a single point of disagreement: When is it the woman's body?
The potential of life vs. the scientific beginning of life or consciousness.
(Disagreement in the arguments, not intention. Some people/politicians just want to control women, no matter the realities or beliefs.)
Texas Gov. Greg Abort
says there will be no rapes in Texas
Legalize rape and it goes away
*poof*
Saying parents have a right to circumcise boys is telling boys and men that they don't have autonomy over their bodies, and that their autonomy can and will be violated.
Infants have a right to bodily integrity, male or female. A person doesn't need to have decision making capacity for it to be immoral to cut their genitals.
Yes. Abortion is health care. I am for free abortion access, no limits. Banning abortion is a violation of autonomy. Autonomy is one of my core values (check out my profile page).
@OhNoSheTwitnt it seems to me that the abortion rights argument finally comes down to what rights a fetus has.
One side says “it’s a human being”. The other side—which I take—takes some variation of Peter Singer’s view that sentience, awareness, etc. matters and it’s a matter of degree.
The origin of the fetus is thus *irrelevant* to either argument.
I’d actually go further and take a utilitarian view—that the marginal value of more humans is possibly negative 😎
