Saying women can’t choose to have abortions unless we’re raped is telling us we don’t EARN autonomy over our own bodies until a man violates it.
@OhNoSheTwitnt And yet I see no protests or any really complaining to the right people lately, mainly lone wolfs like yourself. When the Roe issue came up again there were women in the streets. Where are they all now? It seems like they all are content with letting the male politicians tell them what to do as a collective group.
@BCMetisMan @OhNoSheTwitnt That’s a rather ridiculous take on a day when protesters took to the streets in cities across the US and even the vice president showed up at one of them, not to mention all the ongoing lawsuits, mutual aid efforts to help people access abortions, etc.
@OhNoSheTwitnt also, exceptions for abortion is still a complete abortion ban for all women. You might successfully beg a politician to not force you to give birth to your rapist’s child, but you’ll damn straight have the rest of them, you little jezebel.

@OhNoSheTwitnt The last 4 decades of abortion discussions online have all a single point of disagreement: When is it the woman's body?

The potential of life vs. the scientific beginning of life or consciousness.

(Disagreement in the arguments, not intention. Some people/politicians just want to control women, no matter the realities or beliefs.)

@OhNoSheTwitnt

Texas Gov. Greg Abort
says there will be no rapes in Texas

Legalize rape and it goes away
*poof*

@OhNoSheTwitnt The state has retaken control over women's bodies. This is part of an agenda that must be stopped.
@OhNoSheTwitnt unless raped or close to death. Women have to hope they are saved from a fetus that is not viable, yet can slowly kill a woman until its own "heart" (reality: nerve impulses interpreted as a "heartbeat" by a machine) stops.
The gop is just fine w that.
@OhNoSheTwitnt If you delete & redraft with a content warning of SA, I'll be happy to boost this. It's quite an important message.
@OhNoSheTwitnt they only say that because it is near impossible to prove rape in the US legal system, so it is basically a complete ban with an added painful unwinnable process for women who have been raped.
@OhNoSheTwitnt
The GOP way of life: Taking us back to where it was before Roe v Wade, and also back to pre-WWII, where fascism was all the rage.
@OhNoSheTwitnt also the people saying that will fight you in court to prove you actually weren't raped.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Maybe women should form chemistry clubs to combat this
@OhNoSheTwitnt agreed. I’ve never understood adding rape and incest to a woman’s right to choose for any reason whatsoever. Conservative mostly white males are angry that women throughout history have been the guardians of life with the power to decide who comes into this world and who doesn’t. It scares the hell out of them.
@OhNoSheTwitnt so long as a woman’s body is acting as host to an unborn parasite feeding off her body to survive, she has the absolute right to terminate should she want to for any reason, medical or otherwise until that unborn parasite becomes viable to live outside her womb.
@xwex @OhNoSheTwitnt Turning this around, any willingly pregnant woman should be supported in carrying, then raising a child to maturity. "Pro-life" should be about ensuring home or school breakfasts, free healthcare for child and caretaker, investment in future college funding. Acts of repression and incrimination have nothing to do with this.
@aschatermees @OhNoSheTwitnt I agree that “Pro Life” should be about support for mother and child. However the anti abortion legislation is all about control of women and has nothing to do with an unborn child or its future.
@OhNoSheTwitnt
What should piss u off fat, white, bald head male politicians deciding ur fate.
Being lost, your rights, unalienable, life, liberty. "PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS"
Hard to believe how much "dumb" can be in their brains
@OhNoSheTwitnt aaaaand then rape has to be proven and there are a million ways to run out the clock there.
@OhNoSheTwitnt really stupid when the world tries to tell you what you can and can't do

@OhNoSheTwitnt

Saying parents have a right to circumcise boys is telling boys and men that they don't have autonomy over their bodies, and that their autonomy can and will be violated.

@ttpphd @OhNoSheTwitnt forcing children to get their ears pierced so "they" won't feel left out is telling them they'll never have autonomy over anything and only be subject the whims of society
@ttpphd @OhNoSheTwitnt so you know that antisemitic conspiracy theory where the media introduces things into our lives early so that we just accept it later in life when they make radical social changes
@ttpphd @OhNoSheTwitnt Because an infant has autonomous decision-making power???

@susanna

Infants have a right to bodily integrity, male or female. A person doesn't need to have decision making capacity for it to be immoral to cut their genitals.

@ttpphd I don’t disagree. But if you’re saying a male infant, who is incapable of making such decisions for himself, should have bodily autonomy, than certainly a female who is mature enough to become pregnant should also have that autonomy.

@susanna

Yes. Abortion is health care. I am for free abortion access, no limits. Banning abortion is a violation of autonomy. Autonomy is one of my core values (check out my profile page).

@OhNoSheTwitnt
Even where the pregnancy endangers our lives or risk serious harm to us even when the pregnancy isn't viable.
@OhNoSheTwitnt The other aspect that they never have to explain, because no one asks them, is why a fetus that comes from rape is less valuable than one that doesn’t.
But yes, “exceptions” are the price the GOP Christians require as payment for getting control over your own uterus from The State, who they seem to think currently owns it.
@OhNoSheTwitnt the fascism disease has many casualties.
@OhNoSheTwitnt and in many states. Not at all.
@OhNoSheTwitnt true but it is analogous to being allowed to shoot a burglar, but not random people on the street. I think there are better arguments than this.

@OhNoSheTwitnt it seems to me that the abortion rights argument finally comes down to what rights a fetus has.

One side says “it’s a human being”. The other side—which I take—takes some variation of Peter Singer’s view that sentience, awareness, etc. matters and it’s a matter of degree.

The origin of the fetus is thus *irrelevant* to either argument.

I’d actually go further and take a utilitarian view—that the marginal value of more humans is possibly negative 😎

@OhNoSheTwitnt A woman can only get pregnant once a year. A man can impregnate women hundreds of times in a year. (Or More)
@OhNoSheTwitnt
Your have found the absolut ultimate words to describe that.
WOW.
@OhNoSheTwitnt You can do whatever you want with your body. Just keep remembering that
@OhNoSheTwitnt not only "unless we're raped" but "unless we can PROVE we're raped" which is even more bullshit considering the state of things
@OhNoSheTwitnt @aral There‘s a very easy solution to this problem. Leave the US, it‘s a socially and politically retarded country that will go down in flames in a few years. There are enough alternatives on the globe: country that are real, modern democracies, where women have the same rights as men.
@dgavin @OhNoSheTwitnt @aral While I agree with you that there are other countries where one could live - and I’m a big proponent of living overseas and have done just that - it doesn’t address the issue.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Is there any situation at all in which a man has to EARN autonomy over his own body? Not that I can think of.
