While #NPR and #PBS have quit #Twitter (without mentioning #Mastodon however), Germany's biggest public broadcaster #ARD and #ZDF are not only already testing their own instances for quite a while (https://dev.ard.social/public/local & https://zdf.social/public/local): The first proper account is now live and posts news articles from northern Germany – @NDR
Let's see, if NPR and PBS find their way here. Oh and where is the #BBC?
Come on Elon gave the reporter just 20 minutes notice. No time to research and prepare. Checkout Frost/Nixon on what preparation is really needed. .
Decision was to go ahead or not. No reporter is going to pass up that opportunity. Frankly the lack of aggression allowed us to see Elon as he wants to be seen. The victim of his own decisions sucking any empathy for others.
He can't blame that outcome on the reporter.
We only have to watch their cowardly coverage of the role of #Brexit in making everything worse for the UK, #CostOfLivingCrisis, #FoodSafety, #pollution, #healthcare, etc to know that the BBC lack the balls needed to follow NPR out the door of the Nazi bar
@mho Found a couple „unofficial“ accounts for @tagesschau, @rbb and @zdfheute, but I wish the other ÖR‘s would follow the @NDR‘s example.
Seems the whole „instances“ thing is a bigger deterrent than you might think. Why do people appear to be a little dismissive of the „dev“? Does that indicate it may be unofficial, too, or maybe unstable? (Sorry, still finding my way around, I‘m pretty #NewHere.)

German public broadcaster #NRD covers #hamburg, for example, and is up and tooting away. #ard is the overarching/joint org of regional public service broadcasters in Germany. And you'll probs already know ZDF.

@mho I predicted that after NPR the BBC would be next to leave the free-for-all-hellscape.
My brother explained to me that PBS was basically the TV-version of NPR, so it makes sense it beat the BBC to it.
But... Still waiting for the BBC to do the right thing.
There is the overhead of hosting your own instance, which includes the bandwidth costs of hosting any media posted to it. I can't imagine though it would be a large increase to their overall web presence budget.
Plus, if their instances were subdomains off of their primary domains, it's pretty clear how official the posts are.
Already a lot of questionable handles on the network for NPR.
But you can't really argue with the officialness of notes coming from @[email protected] or @[email protected]

going from there, I'm going to delete my tweet on twitter, because it's unlikely, that NPR is indeed on Mastodon.
Obviously I trapped myself with some Bias towards the logo and a wishful thinking towards NPR going to Mastodon.
I learned something important today, especially via the different accounts on different instances.
and that blue checkmarks on twitter established a huge trust circle, which is now disrupted from various sides.
I have deviated from that on Twitter, but I certainly have been far away from certain types of abusive behaviors that are not part of those established trust circles.
A good lesson. At the moment I'm adding users on Mastodon from links that they post on twitter. I should be vary of Users I'm not adding from there.
I'm missing the old times already.
