As it's Lemmings 32nd birthday today, here's your reminder that there is a Lemmings statue in Dundee.

@LordArse for those interested in the game, Noclip has a great documentary about the studio behind it and their other games.

@gustav And you can follow one of its authors right here: @mdf200
@scottishwildcat @gustav @mdf200 I was thinking about this recently, why can’t I play a straight port of the Amiga version on my iPad? That would be awesome.
@LordArse If you're interested, take a look at the documentary "Lemmings: Can You Dig It?" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbAVNKdk9gA
(I got a "Thanks" mention in the end credits 😁)

@LordArse
Still the hardest game I've ever played. So good.
@whalecoiner
@LordArse
I supplied kit to some of the devs many years back when it first started to go to Lemmings 3D. Part payment was in line caught Sea Trout I recall. Fun days!
@phocks @LordArse my hometown! When I was back last year there was construction fences up at the site and I couldn’t get to them. Next time! 😢
@LordArse You just reminded me how much I loved that game....
@LordArse there’s also a gilded blocker cast into the walls of the council offices, alongside other various items of note from Dundee.
@LordArse @emargee we’ve got a statue in Manchester that’s a giant bottle of Vimto.
@LordArse
That looks like it was done by the same sculptor who did ask the statues in the 14th St-8th avenue subway station in New York
@dymaxion @LordArse I know exactly what you’re talking about.
@LordArse I misread that at Lenin, and had a good laugh.
@LordArse @Thad Without Lemmings, there would be no Grand Theft Auto.
@LordArse @cstross One of the only computer games I ever got into. I miss the Amiga version, which was far and away the best.

Statue with three lemmings from the computer game “Lemmings”, climbing, carrying bricks and building stairs
@LordArse I loved that game SO MUCH. 32 years. F**k.
@LordArse
A friend made one or me, with needle-point. It's always proudly on/near my desk (the little critter goes around).
@LordArse I can't find the photo right now, but I have this game on CD-i (and a working player...)
@LordArse this is a really cool thing to see! Also, I would like to see a modern Lemmings game

@LordArse

alt text: the three images show the entirety and two details of the statue. The statue is a combination of a regular stone brick pillar with three bronze lemming figurines (the computer game lemmings, not the animal). The lemmings are about 40cm big and are shown in three stages of climbing the brick pillar. The one at the bottom is pilling bricks, another is climbing up the side and the third is on top checking out the area with a hand to its forhead.

@LordArse Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day.

Including the lyrics we wrote for it.
