accidentally wrote "saad" instead of "saas" in a text to my partner; they immediately coined "Software as a Disappointment"

and honestly, where is the lie

@sara It's nice to see all the software I've ever written can now be classified
@sara well the problem with SaaD is that it's not so much a category, but really, most software, very close to all
@sara
Or software as a disease
@sara
Or silliness as a delusion

I think this is related to SaaD:

Elongineering

@sara I mean there’s some really disappointing platforms out there.
@sara DaaS: Disappointment as a Service. (most major vendors)
@sara I need to share this with my team tomorrow. They'll get it!
@sara also works: Software as a Disservice
@sara due to this toot I’ll never be able to read DaaS as anything other than “Disappointment as a Service”
@mgaruccio @sara I can only assume you are not an Australian of a certain age. DaaS will always be the Doug Anthony All Stars: https://youtu.be/K6lYS2euFmI

@sara

I love accidental typos like this.

Reminds me about when I said I prefer to find bugs at compile-time verses ruintime.

@sara when I worked for bell Canada i had a bunch of demotivational posters on my wall, one of them was

'customer disservice, because we're not happy until you're not happy'

My boss made me take it down because they said it 'pissed off the client' 🙊

@sara OMG brilliant! Frame this and write it to the blockchain immediately
@sara Brings whole new meaning to CI/CD.
@scottmichaud @sara I have no idea what CD in CI/CD means (probably not compact disc), so from now on it will always be
Continuous Integration / Continuous Disappointment
@sara Excuse me, i have to send a work email now . .
@sara So true that I am laughing almost too hard to type. I now have a brand-new tech acronym to add to my collection and share with my tech friends. Thank you for this.
@sara The bits will always break your heart.
@sara that is *unpleasantly* accurate.
@sara most are-- and I’ve worked for many SaaS and CPaaS companies
@sara This entire thread has made me literally laugh out loud several times so far! "It's funny because it's true" reigns here!

@sara
@elfinit

That's PERFECT!

@juliewebgirl @sara It really, really is.

SaaD: Software as a Disappointment ... That's like, 94% of Commercial Software (and 35% of FOSS).

That's a Hell of a Marketing term.

@sara It's all so clear now. I can't think of much that isn't SaaD.
@sara As a software developer and user for 40 years, this is way too painfully true.
@sara OT: "saad" is an estonian word for ("to get", as in "You will get" :)

@sara

The entire business model, right there.

@sara that's a mood if ever there was one
@sara works with GAAS / GAAD too.

Theme song for this:

Some background, the vocals are by Lebanese actress and singer Sabah (Janet Gerges Feghali) and seems to have been first recorded in the 80's. Her song is so famous and has been covered so many times that I found it quite difficult to find good references about its history. It doesn't help that I don't speak the language.

@sara This is hands down, the worst I've ever felt after reading a joke and being mad I didn't come up with it first.
@sara everywhere. ubiquitously delivered. the lie is everywhere #prplXprpgnd
@sara Sometimes autocorrect just *knows*. A client of mine postponed a call yesterday as he had had a "packed aches of meetings today". I truly feel his pain!
@sara ...that checks out...
@sara This week I had to jump through a LOT of hoops to get set up at a new client site, and one of those things involved getting an exception from their security team. When we had trouble meeting the requirements, I jokingly referred to the security team as “NaaS” - “NO! As a Service”. I ended up agreeing to use a buggy 10 year old version of some software because it was “approved”, rather than the latest version, which remains unapproved after 3 years.
@sara I did a search for irate bay this morning.
Software as a Disaster :)
@sara software as a disservice
@sara
saassy…software as a shit-show, yeah…
