@szattwellauthor I am also from the sticks - the night sky is so much better when you're not in a city. I'm far enough from the centre of London that I do get some stars, but it's not the same.
Your moon pictures are great, you're very talented. The first one especially, it's difficult to capture the moon, well done.
And thank you. Jazak Allahu khair.
@picard that sounds amazing - Iโve always wanted to visit the English countryside, itโs a dream inshaAllah.
Alhamdulillah - thank you! Iโve never been trained, I couldnโt tell you formal stuff about composition and such, I just feel it when I see the view and then I capture it as best I can. It is very hard to capture the moon. I had to use my โrealโ camera (not cell phone) for it.
Wa iyyak!
@szattwellauthor oh really? Ahh, I hope you can visit one day, and fulfill your dream ๐
I grew up around one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I know everyone says the same but in this case it's true ๐ I'm sort of kidding, but it really is very nice and I miss it.
I think that's probably a sign you have a good eye for photos if you do that. That you used an actual camera explains how it's so clear, I was wondering how you got it, my phone can never manage that ๐
@picard yes! I hope so inshaAllah! Ooh where did you grow up?
Alhamdulillah - I think similarly inshaAllah. I just see something that looks nice and have worked with my cameras long enough to have a sense of how to capture it. Usually works. Some colors and such not so much but thatโs ok.
I usually use a phone - hereโs a camera shot compared to with a phone:
@szattwellauthor I grew up kind of on the border of the Peak District - so we spent a lot of time there growing up - and Sherwood Forest (maybe you heard of it from Robin Hood - I've visited his famous tree many times ๐ ). Lots of woods and stuff nearby, with the hill walks in the peaks when we wanted a day out.
But, Scotland is pretty awesome too, I will say ๐
@picard ooh the Peak District is basically my dream area. That and the Yorkshire Dales. I read a lot of James Herriot as a kid. ๐
Um, excuse me, you live in Scotland? Ahh thatโs amazing mashaAllah - I really want to see it one day. My ancestors came from there and I actually know exactly where their village was. (Itโs underwater now ๐ .)
@szattwellauthor Oh sorry no I was unclear! I don't live in Scotland - but been there many times, I was giving them credit that it's not just English countryside that is great ๐ Interesting that your ancestors are from there! Highlands? There was a huge amount of emigration to America from the Highlands...
There are so many interesting places in the Peak District - not just hills but old historical places, huge cave systems, it's a wonderful place to visit. I hope you do ๐
@picard ohhh ok! Haha yes Scotland looks amazing mashaAllah. My family actually comes from Ayrshire - they werenโt one of the Highlands clans, they were Brythonic Celts apparently. Snodgrass was the name. They had a small village close to whatโs now a golf course in Irvine. The river rerouted so thatโs why I said underwater ๐ .
It looks amaaazing (Scotland too) and one day yes, inshaAllah ๐
@szattwellauthor it is very faint on yours, sometimes on mine it's like there are two moons in the sky ๐
Here is one I took some time ago if you like it ๐
@picard oh yeah I hate that haha.
Ooh that is very beautiful mashaAllah - thanks for sharing! I have something similar:
