Back on the #archery field again today. Last week I was getting PB scores time after time. This week: zip! Literally 150 off my best for a Western round. The only difference? The arrows. I have a competition at the weekend and I got out my 'best' arrows which were made for my #longbow by the bowyer. Looks like I will be taking my ‘practice' arrows to the comp.
Sometimes I don’t understand #archery 🤔
Howdy from the NASP (natl archery in schools program) national tournament in Louisville, KY.
I’ve tooted a few times about how archery has BLOWN UP in Missouri. Seems it has everywhere else, too.
This is half of the targets in the wing we are in. There are three wings of the MASSIVE KY Expo Center dedicated to archery. Rounds are roughly an hour each and run all day. It’s a three-day tournament 🤯 #archery #nasp
I have spent the morning helping out at our beginners archery course again. Today was field archery so it was all new for the beginners all over again.
It was a beautiful morning with barely a cloud in the sky. Our field archery course is hard work just to walk around. We have steep slopes and trees that partially get in the way to make things more interesting / difficult. We regularly host the British Field Archery Championships as the terrain is as challenging as it gets. We didn't do the steepest or longest shots but it was still a challenge for the beginners. Everyone I was shooting with really enjoyed their morning and I think they learned a lot.
The best bit was letting Alice have a go with my smallest longbow. She has a big thing about longbows, I think she is an elf or something. She is only 8. She had a whale of a time.
