What if Jolene was Death?

@SirEviscerate the grim reaper has auburn hair 🤯
@SirEviscerate Daaayuum! That's not just funny, that's... deep. And kinda scary. 🤔 😕
@SirEviscerate Oh don't fuck me up like that while I'm on shrooms
@SirEviscerate Dolly herself said Jolene was a redhead.... but that's one HECK of a story prompt.
@stonebear @SirEviscerate ah, a redhead. Obviously War then...

@emmaByrneAuthor @SirEviscerate no no, not anything *quite* so Large.

I still think the original prompt is more interesting then the reality, tho. It's not quite your classic Outwit the Devil trope that's so popular in them there parts, but still. I may have to see what I can do with it. :)

@stonebear @SirEviscerate If you've ever read "Mort", by Terry Pratchett, then it should be clear to all that if Death is not a redhead, then his apprentice definitely is.
@shenea @SirEviscerate Always two, there are. One the master, and one the apprentice. But which is which? 😈
@stonebear @SirEviscerate This parrot is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet Darth Vader. This is a late parrot. It's a redhead. #ProbablyAParaphrase
@SirEviscerate .
🤩
For years our town’s been terrorized, By the beast who takes disguise, In the shell that calls itself Jolene
Before her wrath no foe could stand, Their corpses piled upon the sand, The blood of gods are on her hands; Jolene.
Her hunger barely satisfied, She feasted on the ones who died, She slumbers now in starless skies; Jolene.
The foolish who came to defend, Their broken minds will never mend, They fell at the mere sight of you, Jolene.
@SirEviscerate I will never understand love songs, which make the implication that a person can be stolen. It turns people into property which are owned rather than agents with freedom of choice. It also invalidates the possibility of polyamory or non-monogamy. I do think it makes it a bit more convincing if Jolene is death, but then why would he be talking about death in his sleep.
@SirEviscerate https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/glastonbury-2014-so-who-s-jolene-9574451.html Also "The real Jolene has never stepped forward. Nor has the protagonist that Parton created using her name. The singer has separately revealed that the inspiration for "Jolene" was a red-haired teller who flirted with her husband at his local bank branch (Parton has been married to Carl Dean, a Nashville businessman who is rarely photographed or quoted, for 48 years)."
Glastonbury 2014: So who's Jolene?

Dolly Parton brought the house down when she told the tale of the woman who inspired her greatest hit. But is it a true story or a bit of country stardust?

@SirEviscerate Wow. That just blew my mind :)
@SirEviscerate
Well, @dollyparton did write “I Will Always Live You” the same day. . .hmmmmm
@SirEviscerate you're telling me dolly is gay for death

@SirEviscerate even if she was it's still a much more cheerful song than 'down from dover'

@SirEviscerate
This is the best and darkest thing I've seen on Mastodon so far 🙇
@SirEviscerate Quickly, leave the country, the FBI is going to be on your class after this discovery😭😭 It makes too much sense now, it's so sad
@SirEviscerate Sometimes you read something, just one sentence, and realise that you have changed and the world will never look quite the same again.
