We are well past "they have no regard for the law". This is a brutal authoritarian regime. Of course they don't give a shit about the law.

The reason I say they would bring him back if he was alive is that as long as they disregard this order publicly with a lot of attention on them, it makes it more difficult for them to continue their brazenly illegal schemes. So something has to be behind this that makes the difficulty worth it...like a pile of corpses they hope you don't smell.

But I think a lot of us are in denial. We have known that death camps are *coming* for a long time, but accepting that we are in that stage *now* is tough.

Death camps are not a thing that will eventually pop up. They are here. They're doing this shit now. They aren't going to wait and slow play it. They are trying to do as much as they can as fast as they can.

I think it's naive to assume this is all just about them "not caring" about people or the law.

The Trump admin is most likely covering up a mass murder here.

I mean, it's great and all to say "oh, they would never back down! They just don't follow the rule of law!" but I don't think this is about that.

No, they don't follow the law, but this issue is really hot, and they are in a lot of trouble. This is hampering them. It would be *easier* to bring him back so that people would shut up about it while they continue to disappear other people.

It's not about this guy. It's not about stubbornness or saving face. It's about the fact that they sent a plane-load of people to a death camp and now they are being asked to bring a dead man back.

They were hoping to keep the "death" part of the death camps a secret for at least a little longer.

I think it's important to remind everyone that centrist, neoliberal, moderate, "Third Way”, “abundance” Democrats are little more than Republicans-lite. Always have been.

As such, not only do they serve the same moneyed interests, but they also employ the same tactics‚including gaslighting—on their critics.

I remain convinced that many in the party would choose Trump over Bernie or AOC.
