Keeping my tradition of painting octopuses on the bottoms of tables in hotel rooms alive 😀
Fun fact: I used holbien acrylic paints that will glow under UV light, so if someone ever does stumble across my sneaky octopus painting, they could have a bonus surprise if it ever happens to be lit with a blacklight

@jamdoodles

a nice surprise considering what else could be discovered with black lights in hotel rooms. 😏

@jamdoodles can you save us the da vinci rigamarole and just link on google maps where the ancient artifact is hidden?
@silico_biomancer @jamdoodles This is a wonderful thing! How long do you have to stay to get it done?
@juneg @silico_biomancer this one took about 1.5 hours for the black base & suckers, then another 4 or 5 for the color, so at least a day but I’m usually there for weeks so a few days can pass between steps. This is the most-ambitious one I’ve done; most of the past ones have been 2 or 3 hour affairs
@jamdoodles wow, that would be a trip, no one would believe it, ha ha!
@jamdoodles Is it unethical to hope there will be a murder in this hotel room so the CSI bloodsplatter analyst will stumble upon this and be bedazzled?
@dieMelanie @jamdoodles no. Let your fantasies run wild.
@dieMelanie @jamdoodles and then, they are searching for the octopus-killer 🙈
@jamdoodles That is so incredibly cool! I am going to start looking under tables in every hotel room from now on.
@chaunceyyaunders @jamdoodles I was just thinking the same thing!
@jamdoodles nobody should be using black lights at hotels😂

Fellow fediversians... i declare that @jamdoodles has taken the mantel from Banksy.

This work is incredible.

Like, "I'm wanting to open a hotel on the off-chance you visit it" level of incredible.

@jamdoodles You are going to freak out some CSI.
"Detective, I am 100% certain that cephalopod was there at least three months before the Torso Shredder even checked in."
@jamdoodles
The horrors they'll discover using a blacklight in a hotel room may extend well beyond the underside of this table! 😬
😅 🐙
@jamdoodles So, realistically that’s going to be part of a murder scene, right?
@jamdoodles this is beautiful! I live the idea of someone finding it :-)
@jamdoodles my man, what a beautiful piece of art! Great technique and awesome colors.
@jamdoodles if I found this under a table I'd be tempted to steal it.
@trevor @jamdoodles same lol it’s going home with me
@jamdoodles I might need to start looking under hotel tables, that is so cool!
@jamdoodles That's amazing and totally bonkers.
This means I will now ha e to look under every hotel room table ever now!
😀
#SuchFun
@jamdoodles oh I absolutely adore this!!

@jamdoodles @squish I have questions:

1. Have you ever been charged for damaging hotel property?

2. On the flip side, has a hotel ever offered to pay you for your work?

3. Most importantly, do you turn the table over to paint it, or do you lie beneath it, like Michelangelo?

@transponderings @jamdoodles @squish Michelangelo 🤭😊
@ingridphoenix @jamdoodles @squish Not talking about the teenage mutant ninja turtle btw 😉
@transponderings @jamdoodles @squish I figured 🤣
I just have a vivid imagination and immediately pictured the real Michelangelo crouching under the table, with palette 🎨 and brushes... 😉
@transponderings @jamdoodles @squish
“On the flip side…” I see what you did there.
@transponderings @jamdoodles asking the real hard hitting questions right here ❤️
@transponderings @squish
1. Nope
2. Also nope
3. So far I’ve been able to turn all the tables over, but if I’m sufficiently bored in a hotel & a table is attached to the wall, I probably will lay underneath it & do something
@transponderings @jamdoodles @squish the real question behind #1 here is if you've ever been caught/hotels have ever taken notice.
@jamdoodles I love that and want to find one - but then I’d want to take it home!!
@jamdoodles Wow, that’s beautiful artwork! How long does it take you to paint it? That would be a pleasant surprise to find!
@jamdoodles this is the best random public art thing EVER. thank you for all the octopuses or whatever the plural is.
@renissance1 @myownpetard @jamdoodles I didn't think about this before, so I was curious. There seem to be a lot of options!
Wiktionary says: octopus (plural octopuses or octopusses or octopi or octopodes or octopii) (see usage notes)
I highly recommend reading these usage notes, they are very interesting: https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/octopus

@jamdoodles this is amazing but also I will now be forced to check every hotel room table for the rest of my life
@jamdoodles oh my gosh, that is amazing! ❤️
@jamdoodles This is stunning (and the image description is superb).
@jamdoodles I think if I were lying on the floor choking on a chicken leg at that hotel, I would feel so lucky to have seen that right before my vision failed. That is amazing.
@jamdoodles That is amazing. Now I'm going to have to check the bottom of tables in every hotel room I stay in.
