This project is intended to prevent against election mis-/disinformation.
Unsure whether you're following an imposter?
1) Click the "Verified by" link in their profile, it should take you to https://fedified.com
2) Now, click the Mastodon link next to their name at https://fedified.com, it should take you directly back to their Mastodon profile
That's all I can do for today. I've been up over 36 hours. I'm not the spry intern anymore, and I need to sleep.

Thank you so much! If I’m reading right, what we need to do is add to our first / topmost metadata profile column: “verified by” and then in the second column “https://fedified.com”. ? And then at some point maybe a green check will appear.

I had originally opened this to non-verified but large Twitter accounts, but was immediately swamped with requests. I had to revert back to Verified-only to streamline in anticipation of Election night misinfo campaigns.

@DataDrivenMD Are you doing all this manually? There has to be a better way. I’m also concerned about whether this will break when journalists move to a different instance.
All that said, I appreciate how you were able to come up with this on such a short time frame so it was ready in time for the midterm elections!
To add your name to the https://fedified.com list, please add your full Mastodon handle (e.g. @[email protected]) to your Twitter profile somewhere easily visible (e.g. display name, bio, or a *pinned* Tweet), then complete this short form. The motivation for this project is to help the public easily find trustworthy sources of Election related information on the Fediverse. Due to time crunch (polls close in a few hours as of this writing), I'm prioritizing journalists and persons with large followings (5K+) who were issued a Twitter Verified badge *before* the $8 pay-to-play scheme.
