Oh hi Mastodon. I haven’t visited here in a while but I just now tried to tweet something and Twitter told me I was over my daily limit of tweets. WTF?
I’m trying to follow along here, I really am, but I’m finding the lack of a good quote-tweet equivalent sort of suffocating. It feels like people talking to themselves, every post just a pronouncement into thin air. The thing that gave Twitter spark was the social element. Without a good way to build on (or criticize) a person’s ideas a lot of that is lost and it feels more like a strange blogging platform.

Hi, I'm new here, so I wanted to do a quick #introduction. I'm also @katybkoz

I'm Anishinaabekwe and mom of two amazing teenagers. I believe in collective solutions to oppressive systems, and I have hope for change.

For work, I'm a professor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, Director of the Rural Health Research Center, and Senior Advisor at the Center for Antiracism Research For Health Equity.

Just a note, gosh the n on the Twitter poll is way bigger than this one. Twitter is still the thing…
In case you are curious, I’m doing basically the same poll over in Twitter, but there’s more participation. https://twitter.com/rwidome/status/1608636999187197952?s=46&t=Tdnf0jcPc6FYtr7J7fCiOQ

Wondering why your timeline is full of people saying they have COVID, but you're not hearing about high COVID spread on the news? We are massively undercounting COVID cases (by up to 25x) because everyone is doing home tests.

Senior faculty have enormous power in the academy and... this department/college/school/etc. that you are in or interact with is the world they have chosen to create. They actively maintain it daily with decisions and actions that are both large and small.
Truly. No song ever has or ever will capture the Boomer MO and vibe like Billy Joel’s ‘My Life.’ Bravo Mr. Joel!
