I love this piece by Om Malik about four phrases and minsets that are essential for success that are gone from Silicon Valley - https://om.co/2022/12/22/what-we-dont-say-in-silicon-valley-anymore/
Also missng from that list is insatiable curiosity.

Listening to the Twitter Space where Musk buddy Jason Calacanis is defending the removal of journalist accounts (to many of the journalists who were removed, who somehow can still join the space).
And he's RAGING about personal danger, and insisting this is something totally new (it's not).
Um. Also this was the same debate about Jan 6 / Trump decision. That Musk & friends mocked & insisted was unfair.
Yesterday had an honest-to-god-holy-shit moment. Googled for an answer, got a list of pages upon pages of links.
ChatGPT answered the question (correctly, btw) clearly, and even managed to answer three follow-ups with impressive detail. (And helped me re-think how to phrase the original query, to see what else Google might unearth.)
I realize that ChatGPT can be hit or miss; and I also understand that it can be just as confident in its wrong answers. Still: incredible moment.
I've long been frustrated by the lack of integration across the following:
- PG&E account (electricity / gas)
- Emporia Vue (real-time reading of PG&E smartmeter)
- Local utility (water)
- Flume (real-time reading of water meter)
- Rachio (irrigation)
- SolarEdge (solar monitoring)
- Chargepoint (EV charging)
Just started poking at #HomeAssistant as a way to stitch this stuff together. Seems promising, albeit a bit clunky at times. Anyone have experience/recs for getting started?
If Matt Levine didn't already exist it would be necessary to invent him.
