I have ordered a more powerful machine for our database server from Hetzner last evening, but they still haven't provisioned it. It seems we're doomed to experience these processing delays until I can get my hands on more hardware. Sorry!

@Gargron Hetzner is pretty amazing for what one pays… but yeah I’ve also had week long provisioning delays for dedicated servers especially during peak Covid. Hope it comes soon!

@manu @Gargron that might be hard to accomplish, for most new people the fediverse is either something they don't know about anyway or don't understand 🤷🏻‍♀️ And there are so many instances to choose from, it might overwhelm people who then just opt for the biggest/oldest...

1. I agree that mastodon.social should stay as a viable option for those who really can't decide for anything else. Otherwise some people might stay away simply because the can't decide.

2. Users of mastodon.social should pay (or pay more), so professional staff can be paid for the server hosting and moderation. If all depends on Eugen, the development of Mastodon suffers.

I've recently been hitting the limit on my Scaleway VPS, and , because its a legacy package, I can't expand it, and they want far too much for a new server.
Hetzner is charging similar prices to what i pay now, but with more performance!
Might look at switching over!
