So I, uh, am sorry for my absence. I realized I'd dropped off the face of the world when a bunch of lovely people reached out for proof of life. I realized I should say something, lest people think I fell down our cliff like some heroine in a gothic novel.

I deleted social media(s), and kind of ... stopped. It is nice?! Isolating, but good. Weird. After decades being Very Online I find I'm really enjoying being Less Online. So.

I'll be back, eventually... But for now: yep, still alive.

@playinprogress These are great! Izzat done with wet-on-wet watercolors then?

I can tell that Elon Musk, Duke of the Manchildren and Ghost of Terrible Product Decisions has done something hilarious again because a bunch of my year-old toots about his incompetence are getting fav'd.

What was it this time? Is he requiring implantable trackers in your brain to tweet (sorry, uh, "X") with? Has he implemented Free Speech Filters that delete users who criticize him? Or is it just the usual enshittificafion terribleness?

And by "may have" we mean "has."

The World Solved Acid Rain. We Can Also Solve Climate Change. “Climate agreements and targets take time to evolve. Negotiations are long. The ozone hole and acid rain were not fixed with the first international agreements on the table.” https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-world-solved-acid-rain-we-can-also-solve-climate-change/
The World Solved Acid Rain. We Can Also Solve Climate Change

Lessons from how we tackled acid rain can be applied to our world today

if you really want to destroy the most ethical people in your society, create a honey-trap where they are promised that they can do good for humanity but make it so that, actually, for every tiny benefit to mankind, they make sure it's contingent upon all sorts of complicated factors so the people who need it can't get it, & also have a lot of frustration and unnecessary paperwork. good people will shovel themselves into the meatgrinder, tread water as long as they can, and eventually burn out so bad that they can't do anything ever again.
Oh, hai tiny floppy disk organizer but for micro SD cards.

Smol Floppy Disk Organizer for Micro SD Cards

Back when floppies were new we kept them safe in somewhat terrible plastic bins. Now that micro SD cards can hold thousands of times more data they're what we use and what we lose! Because, smol. So, here's a little throwback to the floppy organizer but sized for micro SD cards. I used double-sided tape to stick mine to the top of my PC monitor because I'd lose it on my messy desk.Note: does not include micro CD cards
