Wondering what the fediverse is and how to use mastodon? Check out my new blog post: https://blog.squarecows.com/welcome-to-the-fediverse-3b937da01a16

On a "can't believe it" success high!

I couldn't get #ROS2 v4l2 camera node (#Ubuntu 22.04 Server on #RaspberryPi) to pass video, but did manage to build libcamera/libcamera-apps and and a node that passes 10 frames a minute.

I can visually see "what the robot is seeing" to compare with the current rviz2 map topic.

My #GoPiGo3 mounted RPi4 is running 30-40% cpu load, using 700MB memory, keeping a cool 55degC. Everything on the RPi except the visualization apps - rviz2 and rqt-image-viewer.

The most reliable source of information seems to be Elon's public Twitter, where he is mocking onboarding emails:

Twitter employees I talk with assume this is all deliberate: creating an environment that is hostile to employees, from day one.

An introduction (as everyone seems to be doing them):

I am an old IT Manager, I seriously pre-date Google even AltaVista, meaning I can think on my own feet.

I do and have done everything in tech, but now I tend to focus on:

Linux, small board computing, operating systems, IoT devices, coding (done 12+ languages) and mobile devices (more 2023)

I used to have a good memory, so if it is a Linux problem ask me! 😀

PS: My favourite language is PASCAL, although I did a lot of Fortran years back

Contemplating jumping to fosstodon.org when the v4 release is available there (I like some of the features e.g. ability to follow hashtags); or, spinning up a small personal instance; to reduce central load.
I've done lots of boosts recently, mostly about the proper use of Mastodon for all new users. And very little postings of my own.
The main reason for this is that I got covid yesterday I'm really not at my best right now. Wish me luck please.
I have ordered a more powerful machine for our database server from Hetzner last evening, but they still haven't provisioned it. It seems we're doomed to experience these processing delays until I can get my hands on more hardware. Sorry!
Yeah! Apparently the bird site is going to charge 20$ a month to be verified.
