@timoreilly Interestingly many of my birdsite communities have some representation here especially with all the open source geo people jumping over in the past few days. The most conspicuous gap is local Oakland/SF bicycle people, and really locals in general. Gem’s mutuals are Oakland people, basketball people, and horticulture people. They’re absent here so far.

I had a box of cables in my garage that I didn't throw away, and a box of carefully stored old technical books for previous versions of software, that I didn't throw away either.

I eventually realized that I love those software books, because of the magical time in my life when new worlds of technical possibility opened up for me. The cables were similar.

I eventually threw away the cables, but I kept the books. ♥️

I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you Tim!

@timoreilly So far, it seems only decent people. I haven't yet run into the toxicity from the bird site.

I mean, they're out there, somewhere, but the way Mastodon and other Fediverse softwares work, you have to metaphorically "walk on the bad side of town at night" to find them.
