A `<section>` is a meaningless element. Stop using it.
UNLESS you give it an accName. Then it becomes a region landmark:
https://www.w3.org/TR/html-aria/#el-section
Do not use `aria-label`. Associate `<section> with its `<h#>` via `aria-labelledby`. If it has no `<h#>`, stop using it.
This specification defines the authoring rules (author conformance requirements) for the use of Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.2 and Digital Publishing WAI-ARIA Module 1.0 attributes on [HTML] elements. This specification's primary objective is to define requirements for use with conformance checking tools used by authors (i.e., web developers). These requirements will aid authors in their development of web content, including custom interfaces and widgets, which make use of ARIA to complement or extend the features of the host language [HTML].
I start my new job today π
Over the course of 2022 I've been working really hard on getting up to speed with modern web development and whoo boy, it's different to the noughties, when I was most active as a hobbyist in coding websites!
So it's been a big old slog, but I made it. Here's to having some more focus and joy in my working life from now on :)
How can we make a site/app's 'delight factor' (often only visual) more accessible?
More entertaining prose/copy? Music(!)? Animations that aren't only scroll linked?
What other ways are there to set a sort of ambience of a site that isn't entwined with the majority/default access type?
Guhhh it seems to happen to me every time (OK it's been like 2 times) that I make a site with @astrodotbuild, I get stuck when trying to just use some vanilla JS, especially in a component.
I think I've sorted it out again, but the syntax highlighting REALLY doesn't like it!
I got them to draw their desired faces with non permanent pen onto the surface, at age 2.5 and almost 5 they're not quite ready for sharp knives...
I had to enlarge the designs to make them cuttable, but I like to think I caught the expressions their drawings had!
