Hopefully my pinned posts for #LunaticsTV and my bio offer some #Introduction , but I'll add more:

I am presently a self-taught free-culture #Film #Animation director and producer.

Director by choice, Producer by necessity.

The #FreeCulture aspect applies in two ways: both that I use a completely #FreeSoftware / #OpenSource production pipeline, and that the project is structured around free #CreativeCommons licenses, and will be released under CC By-SA 4.0, which affects the funding model.

More #Introduction :

As a animated film maker, I currently use:

#Blender3d #Inkscape #GnuIMP #Krita #Kdenlive #Audacity #Ardour #PapagayoNG
in my studio production process. All of which are indispensable tools.

But much of my time is focused on developing the #Studio #Infrastructure : Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS), version control, and pipeline.

So I post about this stuff a lot.

Especially recently -- I'm 3 months into developing a new YunoHost-based studio project site.

More #Introduction :

It helps that I have 20y experience with #Gnu #Linux and #OpenSource software, and that I wrote for Free Software Magazine from 2004-2012, which involved a LOT of research into projects and occasionally the people behind them.

I also briefly was a "Deputy Editor" for "LinuxUser & Developer" Magazine in 2005-2006, right before they bankrupted a shell corporation and shafted their entire editorial staff. Still a little mad about that. 🤬

But it was a fun experience, too.

More #Introduction :

I'm 30+ years married, and I have three young adult offspring, who are living at home with us, largely because of the #Covid #Pandemic .

I may mention them, but I don't talk family much online, mainly for the sake of their privacy.

My wife and chief collaborator on "Lunatics!" is on here too, but I'm not sure if she wants to own up to that or not, so for now, you'll have to guess. 😜

My bio says "former pro astronomer" and that's pretty accurate.

I have a BA in #Astronomy from the University of Texas, and worked there, at University of Arizona, and the associated McDonald and Steward Observatories in the early 1990s and then for Extrasolar Research Corporation and Caltech/JPL/IPAC from '98 to '03.

My area of interest was #BioAstronomy which is sort of the observational opposite end of the theoretical field of #ExoBiology .

I still think it's cool.
