#3 is much looser. There will be various panels and meetings on one level. If we're lucky, there will be actual live concerts, in person, that may or may not be streamed yet still be part of the Netlabel Day wave.

Just ask (Part Deux)

#2 - There are 50 hours of music broadcast to fill, since we start at Line Island Time, and everyone on Earth deserves a full 24 hours.

We use ready-made DJ mixes as well as live slots. Slots are *usually* 1 hour or 2 hours, but if you only have 30 minutes, that's cool, and if you want 90 for a Messiaen Quartet at the End of Time, that's fine too.

Sign up to claim your slot here, and let me know if it's live or recorded or Memorex. English is NOT necessary.

If you're doing your set live, get at us a week ahead, so we can test everything for compatibility.

If you provide a mix, you need to get it to us by 10 July or we have to send out "Bruno", "Larry the Fink" and "Vlad the Impaler" to come claim it. No one wants that.

HOW TO JOIN NETLABEL DAY??

Just ask.

Netlabel Day is really 3 things:

1) A bunch of free licensed music for download by anyone anywhere;
2) A 51-hour radio broadcast featuring DJ mixes, albums, and live sets;
3) A ragtag collection of offline/online events.

For #1, we accept ANY music release with a free license (Creative Commons, Art Libre, MIT, etc) released after 15 July 2025. Tradition is that we prefer brand new, unheard releases made special for the day -- BUT. Too much music slips through the cracks, and honestly I want it all to be heard.

So, uh, what's a good Creative Commons license to use for my personal website and blog?

I'm inclined to use CC-NC-SA, but, like, wouldn't that allow some asshole to copy my website, change words and make me look like a bigot or something, as along as they give credit to me? I mean, I'd rather not take credit for someone's gross mischaracterization of me.

Or... do I understand that correctly? Is there some clause in that license that restricts impersonation and targeted harassment? Wouldn't something like CC-NC-ND be better, then?

Or is this another instance of me being paranoid and thinking people are (1) out to get me, (2) more cruel than they are, and (3) that I'm a more important and consequential figure than the rational part of my mind believes?
