Rare Earth hypothesis but most planets with suitable conditions have mould on them.

Glorious for some, irritating for most.

If Scientists Ever Find Strong Evidence of Alien Life, Communicating It Will Pose Serious Issues

I knew this would be coming, Fascists actually hate Science, despite demanding new weapons from it.

The joy of Discovery means nothing to them, it's all "Exploit, Exploit, Exploit!"

Answering one of the grand questions of the Universe "is Life everywhere in Space?" means nothing to a bunch of greedy rapist scum

European (#ESA) #Mars probe #Beagle2 stopped responding on #ThisDayInHistory in 2003, just prior to its landing. An #exobiology mission, it was cleverly named for the ship that took #CharlesDarwin on his long scientific exploration. This Beagle, alas, touched down too forcefully.

Instead of "is there life elsewhere in the universe?" people should be taught to ask "what is the distribution of life in the universe?"

The classic framing of the question carries heavy assumptions which are likely false, and it misleads the public.

Exciting news from Space, nearby Teegarden's Star not only has planets, but planets in the right place possibly for Life.
Centauri Dreams has to be one of my most favourite things on the Internet, intelligent yet accessible and right up my street.

Teegarden’s Star b: A Habitable Red Dwarf Planet? | Centauri Dreams

Finding organics on Mars means absolutely nothing for life

The red planet, Mars, may once have been teeming with life, just as Earth is today. Finding "organics" on Mars, however, doesn't mean life.

Big Think

A new discovery has deep implications for the possibility of life on Mars.

Common yeast can survive Martian conditions

Any life on Mars in the past, present, or future would have to contend with challenging conditions including, among others, shock waves from meteorite impacts and soil perchlorates—highly oxidizing salts that destabilize hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions.

"Failed Star" seems a bit pejorative, maybe Wolf 1130C wanted to be a Brown Dwarf?

Turns out phosphine is more common than we think and maybe not the biosignature we thought it was...

Cosmic Mystery Deepens as 'Biosignature' Molecule Seen in Failed Star

A detection of phosphine in the atmosphere of a brown dwarf 54 light-years from Earth deepens the mystery of phosphorus chemistry throughout the Milky Way.
