Finally starting to go through some #newzealand #photos .

These were taken a couple of days ago at (and along the way to) the white heron sanctuary.

These white herons have only one nesting site in all of NZ. While they live all over the country, the herons will always return here, and ONLY here for nesting. Their homing abilities must be remarkable.

I wonder what it is about this exact site? They won’t even nest on the other side of the river. They’ve confined themselves to this one specific 20-30 metre radius.
