In Gilbert Watson's weird tale 'The Face In The Jungle' (Pall Mall Magazine, 1907), the weirdest things are actually the feet in the jungle - the ghostly echo of horrible cruelty meted out to an Indian dancing girl. #PhantomsFriday #ghost #ghosts #weirdtale

百物語 Hyaku Monogatari No, 9 - Seamstress

The #sewer looked up from her work, noting what the weavers had made. Drifts of fine, moth-gray cloth lay in loose mounds. The weaver’s feet scuttled back and forth in an unending dance of warp and weft, counterpoint to the patter of small paws from the sewers.

She sighed, returning to her work. Her deft needle stitching an endless supply of shrouds. To slacken was to invite the gnawing of small teeth at ankles already bereft of feet. Only scattered ivory bones remained.

Another shroud was done and carried away in an endless cycle until all sentient beings found enlightenment.
