In related news, #ICE and #DHS has thoroughly pissed off the gun rights groups by portraying 'had a gun' as criminal. That will not play well.
Also WaPo is confirming other reporting that Alex Pretti's gun was secured _BEFORE_ the shooting.
"Federal agents who were wrestling a man to the ground in Minneapolis early Saturday secured a handgun he was carrying moments before shooting him multiple times... emerged from the scrum holding Pretti’s gun, having removed it from his waistband area. Less than a second later, the first of what appear to be 10 shots was fired..."
They also say "It is not clear from the video whether the other agents realized Pretti — who local authorities believe had a permit to carry the weapon — had been disarmed."
Which is wholly unimportant: He was not brandishing and that is the ONLY thing that matters. They had no excuse, much less reason, to murder him.
EDIT: Quotes from the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus statement:
We are deeply concerned by this morning’s reports that a federal law enforcement operation in Minneapolis resulted in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by federal agents.
According to local officials, the man was legally armed, a firearm was recovered at the scene, and he is believed to have been a lawful gun owner and permit to carry holder.
Many critical facts remain unknown. ... there has been no evidence produced indicating an intent to harm the officers.
...
Every peaceable Minnesotan has the right to keep and bear arms—including while attending protests, acting as observers, or exercising their First Amendment rights.
These rights do not disappear when someone is lawfully armed, and they must be respected and protected at all times.
