Returned to my workbench recently, and tonight I finished sanding on the largest staff I've made yet-- it's an inch or two taller than I am (5 foot 11) and is as wide as a soda can at the head end.

I've decided I'm going to inscribe references to as much of the knowledge I've gained in my Druidic pursuits on its surface as possible. I'm hopeful I can do enough to submit images of it, with explanations, as my Druidic review to formally finish the grade with OBOD.

Nothing like crunch time to get you feeling creative, I guess! This one isn't for sale at tomorrow's event, but is a personal piece I've long wanted to make.

Back in my days on the psychic fair circuit, I usually wore a black beret-ish cap and a brown fringed smock, which would often draw remarks from folks I'd gotten to know over the years of looking like an art teacher. One of these in particular, after I first started making my wands available for sale, told me I should make some kind of wand or staff to look like a paintbrush. I loved the idea and have been waiting for the right piece of wood to come off the sander.

Today, it happened. The result:

(And hey, maybe pics forthcoming of this so-called Artist ensemble.)

Another wand from last night's shift at the woodburner! This one has renditions of the Big and Little Dipper (not bad if I do say so myself). The runes are meant to say "True North," which is what the Dippers can help to find.

Polaris, the current North Star, can be found in the Little Dipper's handle.

Made a new wand for LTOTL (only 9ish days away now)! I wasn't really sure what to burn into it at first, but when I saw the comma and then the period at opposite ends, I sat to consider their significance.

There are two parts of your life: the circumstances of your birth and what you do with them. The thing that separates them? The comma. "Born in Nowhere, MO into a family blah blah blah, Person went on to..."

Everything after the comma is yours to write. And what are acts of magic, if not attempts to take the quill of your story up for yourself?

WRITE YOUR SAGA.

Here, have a random picture of some wood that has somehow STILL not dried out enough to be worked.

Indulge me in one last #wandpost for today, if you would, because I really dig the checkerboard pattern I burned into the handle of this one.

The Finger of God.

Made of oak, and burned to look like... well, like a finger. There are several markings added to this, including a Valknot, a custom sigil, and (not pictured) the rays of Awen where the fingerprint would be.

More #wandposting ahead:

This is Talon, one of my very few maple wands and most favorite pieces. It's not my first attempt at recreating a real-life object on the shaft of one of my wands, but the feathers are among my best work so far, if I do say so myself.

The opposite side of this wand has "Talon" burned into it in the runes of the Elder Futhark.

(I've got this and a ton of others for sale. If you're interested, send me a DM.)
