The so-called "single-column" UI presented at https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/06/mastodon-2.9/ still has 3 columns:
1. Left - posting.
2. Middle - home feed
3. Right - utilities
Zooming in with the browser eventually shows only home feed. Too bad if you were composing a post, because the composition window is gone! (Sorry I missed it - my #VisualDisability makes it hard to see things in unexpected places due to reduced visual field.)
