I have a shorter answer:

It is a moot question. If a POTUS wants greater control over the Federal Reserve, it (Trump is an "it") can seek revisions through Congress, in a bill that changes the Fed's organizing principles. THAT is what democracy is. If a supermajority of the Senate supports such a change, it shall be so.

But letting an economic imbecile control the Fed is to double down on stupid.
