The Toronto Star, while Trump announces invasion and economic subversion, and Musk is saluting dead Hitler, spent their time advertising Cluster trucks. The object of worldwide disdain because of EVIL.

And far right funder of racist political parties in Canada? His paper is doing advertorial for the tesla truck.

So, I just went to cancel my digital #TorontoStar subscription due to life circumstances changing -- nothing against the Star itself -- and found that like many other digital subscriptions, too has the whole impossible to cancel online design. It doesn't even link to a manual way to do it. Tsk tsk tsk. #torstar #dobettermedia

The government has yet to set up a commission meant to advise it on issues including JP salaries. The commission work was supposed to have been completed by last April.

A whole article on the #traffic congestion issues faced by #Toronto, and the only solutions suggested are technology based.

Well unless some of that technology includes #Tardus technology so we can physically fit a lot more #cars into a smaller space, it is not going to help.

The only thing that would help is a congestion charge for cars entering the downtown, with the proceeds used to improve #transit, is not even mentioned.

What a crappy newspaper.

When #Torstar, Canada's largest news publisher, struck a profit-sharing deal with Google, they killed their longrunning, excellent investigative "Defanging Big Tech" series.

A privacy law would also protect access to healthcare, especially in the post-#Roe era, when Big Tech surveillance data is being used to target people who visit abortion clinics or secure medication abortions. It would end the practice of employers forcing workers to wear health-monitoring gadget.

Huge Online News Act Backer, Toronto Star, Condemns Government Google Deal

The Toronto Star, a very public backer of the Online News Act, is saying they cannot support the deal struck between Google and the government.

When I published the article on the government folding, I got a number of comments saying that I was completely out in left field. For supporters of the Canadian government, the...

The two media giants have entered into non-binding discussions on options for combining operational assets, according to company officials

Great - so Conservative news media will own every piece of corporate news media in Canada. I hope to hell that the Competition Bureau steps in and denies this merger.

We need stronger independent news sources - not more consolidation in news media.

NordStar, Postmedia would have 50% voting stake in a new company that would control most of the combined assets of both. Toronto Star would be spun into second company controlled by NordStar.

Probably in vain, I pitched to #TVO, #torstar, even Roger's Community TV, and yes, also the impenetrable #CBC, but it can't hurt to email them on Fediverse why and how. 25 years ago I dragged CBC into the future kicking and screaming when I lured them into using GPL, but I expect they've forgotten.
