Tim Finn, Escapade, 1983 on A&M

Tim Finn’s better known as one of the co-founders of Split Enz, and later member of Crowded House. This was his debut album as a solo artist, originally on Mushroom records, a large indie label in Australia, but distributed in the US by A&M.

It was a #1 record in New Zealand, top ten in Australia, and top 100 in Canada – but only made it to #161 in the US charts. Vince Gill guests on […]

Crowded House - Woodface

Split Enz started with Tim, then brother Neil joined and wrote their hits. After that ended, Neil started Crowded House...and in this, their third album, Tim joined.

This started as a Finn Brothers release, with true co-writes, and morphed into a Crowded House release.

It's one of their best.

Tim and Neil Finn and Split Enz release their classic on January 21, 1980. The album originally was released in four color combinations – yellow and blue, red and green, purple and yellow, and blue and orange – but would ultimately be given another four makeovers with releases in lime green and pink, hot purple and burnt orange, gold and platinum (to mark its sales milestones), and finally yellow, blue and red.

Tim Finn Puts A Lot Of Stuff and Nonsense Into First Tour in Eight Year

Tim Finn has put a lot of work into his first tour since 2015 which I imagine has to be more than just the six ‘The Life and Times of Tim Finn’ shows in Australia and New Zealand.

Tim Finn was pelted with beer cans when he and Split Enz first performed in Australia. Now he’s a beloved elder statesman of mainstream rock, touring Australia in September

When the Kiwi singer tours Australia this month, he will do so as a beloved elder statesman – which could not be more different from his first arena show here.

The Life And Times Of Tim Finn: A fitting celebration of a melodic wizard

Jeez we miss the zaniness of Split Enz! Can they please do a reunion tour stat? The band’s stunning one-off Sound Relief re-formation gig in 2009 is still one of this scribe’s best-ever concert experiences.  I See Red follows immediately afterwards and the band – all of whom sport dapper black suits – sounds absolutely […]
