À York, The Shambles est une de ces rues où l’on marche en regardant autant en l’air qu’devant soi 🏘️✨
Colombages, étages en surplomb qui se rapprochent presque, pavés étroits… On la décrit souvent comme l’une des rues médiévales les mieux préservées d’Europe, et on comprend pourquoi dès les premiers pas.

Autrefois, c’était une rue de bouchers (l’ambiance devait être… nettement moins Instagrammable 😅). Aujourd’hui, c’est un décor vivant où chaque façade semble raconter un chapitre du Moyen Âge.

We were just there for a couple of nights back in early June, when we stopped during our train trip from Edinburgh to London. We didn’t really have time to do York justice, and some wet weather didn’t help, but we enjoyed our brief stay and would go back again.
