(Adnkronos) - L'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità ha dichiarato di considerare tutti coloro che si trovano a bordo della nave da crociera Hondius colpita dall'epidemia di hantavirus come contatti ad "alto rischio" e che pertanto dovrebbero essere monitorati attivamente per 42 giorni. "Classifichiamo tutti a bordo come quelli che definiamo contatti ad alto rischio", ha dichiarato Maria Van Kerkhove, direttrice dell'OMS per la prevenzione delle epidemie e delle pandemie, durante un evento sui social media, aggiungendo che è raccomandato "un monitoraggio attivo e un follow-up di tutti i passeggeri e i membri dell'equipaggio che sbarcano per un periodo di 42 giorni". La Van Kerkhove ha sottolineato che il rischio per le persone in generale e per gli abitanti delle Isole Canarie, dove la MV Hondius dovrebbe attraccare domani, rimane "basso".

Il Fatto Quotidiano: “L’hantavirus non è un altro Covid”: il direttore dell’Oms rassicura gli abitanti di Tenerife con una lettera

“Questo non è un altro Covid 19″. È questo il cuore della lettera scritta su X dal direttore generale dell’Organizzazione mondiale della salute, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, ai cittadini di Tenerife per rassicurarli dopo i tre decessi da hantavirus avvenuti a bordo della nave MV Hondius, che attraccherà nel porto industriale di Granadilla, sull’isola delle Canarie, per poi trasferire i passeggeri rimasti a bordo verso l’aeroporto e rimpatriarli nei rispettivi Paesi d’origine.
“Non è abituale che scriva direttamente alla gente di una comunità, ma oggi sento che non solo è appropriato, ma necessario”, ha spiegato il direttore dell’Oms per motivare la decisione di placare gli animi sul terrore di una possibile nuova pandemia: “So che siete preoccupati. So che quando ascoltare la parole ‘focolaio’ o ‘epidemia’ e vedete una nave avvicinarsi alle vostre coste, affiorano ricordi che nessuno di noi è riuscito a superare del tutto – ha scritto Ghebreyesus riferendosi al coronavirus – ma ho bisogno che ascoltiate con chiarezza: questo non è un altro Covid 19″.

Nella lettera il direttore ha spiegato inoltre che i passeggeri della nave saranno trasferiti nel porto industriale di Granadilla “in veicoli sigillati e sorvegliati” e lungo “un corridoio completamente isolato” per poi essere rimpatriati direttamente nei rispettivi Paesi. Ghebreyesus ha poi ringraziato il premier spagnolo Pedro Sánchez per aver accolto questa richiesta, definendo la decisione della Spagna come “un atto di solidarietà e un dovere morale”. Per il numero uno dell’Oms la scelta di Tenerife “non è stata arbitraria” ma è stata effettuata in base a un Regolamento sanitario internazionale che impone di individuare “il porto più vicino con capacità mediche sufficienti”.

Il Tempo: Hantavirus, controlli su 4 turisti passati per Roma: erano in aereo con una vittima

Scattano i protocolli di prevenzioni per l'hantavirus. A seguito delle segnalazioni ricevute attraverso i circuiti internazionali relative al focolaio di Andes Hantavirus collegato alla nave Mv Hondius, il Ministero della Salute ha attivato le "procedure previste di valutazione del rischio, sorveglianza e coordinamento sanitario, in linea con i protocolli nazionali e internazionali". Le valutazioni condivise a livello internazionale dall'Oms (Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità) e dall'Ecdc (Centro europeo per la prevenzione e il controllo delle malattie) indicano attualmente un rischio basso per la popolazione generale a livello mondiale e molto basso in Europa, si legge in una nota.
In Italia sono giunte quattro persone con il volo Klm in coincidenza per Roma sul quale era salita per pochi minuti la donna ricoverata a Johannesburg e lì deceduta. I recapiti dei quattro passeggeri sono stati acquisiti. Il Ministero della Salute ha quindi trasmesso le informazioni alle Regioni di competenza (Calabria, Campania, Toscana, Veneto) per l'attivazione delle procedure di sorveglianza attiva, nel principio di massima cautela. La compagnia Oceanwide Expeditions, inoltre, ha aggiornato, con una propria comunicazione, il quadro relativo ai passeggeri della nave MV Hondius.
Sulla nave, dal 6 maggio, è presente anche un medico italiano dello staff sanitario Ecdc, salito a bordo a supporto delle attività assistenziali legate all'emergenza. Il ministero della Salute, insieme alle altre Amministrazioni e autorità sanitarie coinvolte, continua a garantire il pieno coordinamento e l'applicazione delle misure di sorveglianza previste.
DOV'È LA NAVE - Si prevede che la nave da crociera MV Hondius, colpita da un focolaio di hantavirus, raggiunga le acque dell'isola di Tenerife, nelle Canarie, nelle prime ore di domani e che getti l'ancora nel porto di Granadilla in modo che, in linea di principio, l'evacuazione dei passeggeri e di parte dell'equipaggio possa iniziare a partire da mezzogiorno. In Italy, four people arrived with a flight from KLM with a connection to Rome, on which the woman who was hospitalized in Johannesburg and subsequently died, had briefly boarded. The contact details of the four passengers have been obtained. The Ministry of Health has then transmitted the information to the competent Regions (Calabria, Campania, Tuscany, Veneto) for the activation of active surveillance procedures, in the principle of precaution. The Oceanwide Expeditions company has also updated the information regarding the passengers of the MV Hondius ship.

On board the ship, since May 6th, there is also an Italian doctor from the Ecdc healthcare staff, who boarded the ship to support assistance activities related to the emergency. The Ministry of Health, together with other involved administrations and health authorities, continues to guarantee full coordination and the application of the planned surveillance measures.

WHERE IS THE SHIP – The cruise ship MV Hondius, hit by an outbreak of hantavirus, is expected to reach the waters of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, in the early hours of tomorrow and anchor in the port of Granadilla so that, in principle, the evacuation of passengers and part of the crew can begin from noon. This is reported by El Mundo. Currently, there are no people on board the ship presenting symptoms of hantavirus. The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, will meet today with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Madrid before going to Tenerife to coordinate rescue efforts for those on board the MV Hondius.
