Issue report: Hugging emoji is broken in Teams

Expected behaviour: It should send a comforting hug emoji

Actual behaviour: It sends a frame from the final climactic scene of "Annihilation"

Are you confused in #Teams because sometimes Enter sends message but sometimes it does a line break?
I just realised that when you're in "show formatting options" mode, it is the latter, otherwise the former.
To activate this mode, click on the little A+ pen icon at the bottom of the composing windows.

Of course Teams could just always have Enter do a line break... But that would be too easy and intuitive! ugh

Can someone tell my why, by default, when you share a document on #Teams on a private channel it shares it with your entire university??

(You can set it back to sharing with only people in the chat but you have to click to do that for each document.. 🤦)

Should I open the gate?

Workplace: “We would prefer you stop using your Linux desktop and use the Windows laptop we provide instead.”
This is what I get when a teammate shares a code snippet in @microsoftteams and I try to view it on Windows. A blank gray square. Comes through fine on the web app on my Linux machine though… #FedoraYay #WindowsBoo #TeamsSucks #FOSS #SuckMyMoirePattern

Edit: It is not a black on transparent image, it’s a code snippet block that won’t load on this device at all. Fine on Linux and iOS.

I was thinking about my dislike of Teams today and my preference for Slack. I can pin it on the threading behavior and the fact that I came up on IRC (which Slack emulated and even integrated early on; I mourned when they disabled the native gateway).

It only occurred to me this morning that hashtags likely evolved from IRC channel names. I'm ashamed that it took me this long to recognize that.

Only in a #Microsoft application can you hit backspace to delete a blank line (after a numbered list), and it inserts a new line instead.

I deal with a lot of applications, versioning, detection, etc.

#Teams was already a dumpster fire but at least it was a tried & true MSI with all that comes with that AND it had understandable versioning.

Now we've got #NewTeams which is like a junkyard tire fire (is it going to be named "new" forever? Who came up with this junk?) and what kind of absolutely asinine version naming is this?

e.g. Released: 2024, June 17 - Version: 24137.2216.2931.2440

I thought okay, first two digits are year (which seems accurate comparing the 2023 & 2024 releases) but beyond that? Zero idea.
E.g. 137? I thought, "Huh, is June 17th the 137th day of the year?" Noooope. That would be May 16th (https://www.saturdaygift.com/days/day-numbers-2024/)

WHAT THE HELL Microsoft.

Can anyone make this absurdly long string of digits make sense? I guess it's just curiosity.

Version update history for Teams app deployments - Office release notes

Provides IT Admins with a complete list of Microsoft Teams Apps releases, organized by Cloud type, deployment type, release month, release date, and specific build versions.

So-called new Teams has been a disaster for my org, such that it is useless for about 1/2 our dev team. Yesterday a paid M$ tech advised we use classic Teams instead. Classic teams will be deprecated on July 1st with no option to remain using it.

Why are we a M$ shop again?

Update for the day-switching in Teams after Leap Day -- I'm seeing more reports of this online now, and for me, the issue appears to only be for the 'Week' view in Teams. The 'Day' and 'Work Week' views have the days correct. So I switched to 'Work Week' and I'm good now, I think?

What a stupid fix.

Have I mentioned I hate Teams? 😂
