Yesterday @marcphilipp proposed to the @testlens team to use @zulip for team communication. I absolutely love it! It is so much better then competitors like #slack or #msteams that went down the enshitification road long ago.

Just one example: in Zulip all topics (equivalent to Slack threads) are named and listed below the channel they belong to and topics can be marked resolved. How awesome is that?
Now Slack threads are going to feel even more painful than before...

If you call to ask me a question, let me answer. If you don't stop talking I won't listen and I won't bother to answer. #wtf #MSTeams

Is this silly grey bar covering a large portion of al images in MSTeams vibe-slop?

I've resigned myself that the best way to set up access to channel files is to use the "add shortcut to OneDrive/my files" option.

I prefer to have my OneDrive be actual folders and files, and not pointers to files in other places, but the alternatives for accessing channel files are not great, so here we are.

Moving the a channel's files from one Team to another is veeerrrryyy sssllllooowwwwwww...

Conspiracy theory: Apps like #Slack and #MSTeams game engagement metrics by showing notification badges / labels and then refusing to remove them when you look at the cause of the notification.

You have focus a input field. Dig out the relevant item (not signposted) and double click on it. Stare intently at a full-screen window whilst muttering incantations only known to the oldest gods. It's all anti-user pro-numbers BS #darkpatterns

We don't hold big online or hybrid events at the Library, but it is good to know this capability is (or will be) there.

"Starting April 1st, 2026, Teams events capabilities such as town hall and webinar, including advanced features, are available to all users licensed for Teams Enterprise and no longer require Teams Premium."

Just noticed MS Teams has a schedule send feature which is nice but I needs a setting to send when the person becomes available and not make me waste time finding a time slot after they are off 'do not disturb'. New in MS Teams: Communities

I guess we'll have to rethink our use of channels and private group chats (which I feel is what has been used to support "communities" up to now). Or maybe they are meant to facilitate cross-uni collaboration? Would be interested to hear from other who end up using/making use of this feature.

It occurred to me that one of the reasons so many people with a certain mindset moved into IT is that we didn't have to talk to people all that often. And the further up the career ladder you progressed, the less you had to talk to people. You could do almost all of your work communication via email.

The corollary to that is one of the reasons many of us detest #msTeams so much: it goes out of its way to encourage and facilitate face to face communication (badly). Do Not Want.
