Why am I having a FREEZE panic attack about following through on a huge and extremely impulsive project that will require major amounts of time and money - but IF I pull it off, it could drastically make my life better?? And it's not like I LOSE anything by taking at least the first few steps, as far as I can until I hit a wall. Things won't get worse, they just won't change yet. I only really hurt myself by AVOIDING THE PAPERWORK LIKE A BIG OL' SCAREDY-CAT.

But seriously, these types of hairbrained schemes are usually the ones that fire up my ADHD "new and novel challenge accepted" super mode where I can accomplish the impossible if I really just throw myself into an all-out sprint of willpower. Can't pace these things out. Gotta grab the bull by the horns and hang on for the ride. Don't slow down enough to doubt yourself. JUST DO THE PAPERWORK, CON. Geeze.

"Now versus not now" thinking is natural.

Human brains crave immediate rewards over delayed outcomes. Bring the future payoff into the present moment. Give yourself a quick win just to start.

My task initiation is at an all-time high today. I do not want to start anything. I'd rather continue my weekend and read some more.

Turned out that the reason I'd been putting certain jobs off was that I didn't want them to distract me from finishing my chapter. As soon as the draft was completed, I was suddenly energised to complete a task I've been putting off since December. Funny how that works. Almost like #dopamine makes #TaskInitiation easier...

OK, we're resorting to self-bribery, LMAO.

I don't even have to get everything done, just get going, get SOMETHING done, and then I can happily do nothing the rest of the day.

Comfy pants & headphones are on.

LET'S DO THIS.

I like to cross tasks off in my planner in #rainbow order for extra dopamine (because #adhd likes to steal it from me). It always makes me happy to close out a week with completed rainbow cycles, especially when heading into a long weekend!
