Sat on a large conference dinner table today with a Palestinian (from Gaza, several family members dead) and a Ukrainian (late because was on the phone with family in Kiev) researcher. Meanwhile, I know a Israeli researcher on an ERC with two students. Petitions at work are disallowed, but our systems *are* picking winners and loosers. What can we do?
