Unoriginal and Uncreative【Game Log: Mid-June 2025】
Not much to say this time. Mostly busy with other things【Games Played】
Duskers is not as good as I remember. It does capture that most faithful of keyboard-only interfaces... Grabbing the mouse and randomly scrolling the text window that doesn't have wordwrap????
Surmount is a fun 2D platformer where you scale a mountain. You clamber up by gripping one limb on the cliff and rotating around a la Mount Your Friends. A bit too unreliable, but still fun.
PEAK is a gimmick chasing 3D co-op game where you scale a mountain with friends. Terrible controls that can't be changed, but there is a note promising that they totally will be an option to do that in the future. Fun with friends despite this.
Cosmic Express is an old puzzle game where you have to guide a train to an exit, while picking up and dropping off passengers in the meantime. The challenge escalates quickly, but is still gentle enough to actually learn the game.
Vintage Story a Minecraft-clone with a bit more realistic crafting and environment. I've tried it a few times over the years. It's OK, but it's the sort of game you realise you failed by taking the wrong first move 45 minutes ago, and then quit.
Ultra Fight Da Kyanta 2 is a silly fighting game with MSPaint characters. 54 Stars.
Squiggle Football, a deckbuilding Aussie-rules game. I played the demo, had fun. Then was hit by a "THAT WAS ALL POINTLESS!" player-unlocking metaprogression that killed my enthusiasm.
I went back to OpenTTD and had a lot of fun with some weird options. Still satisfying after all these years.
I started on Quantum Witch, but barely got anywhere. It's a simple and clumsy platformer where you end up making a bunch of choices that send the plot in different directions. Seems quite fun and interesting, and the writing, humour, and characters are great. But also I've played like an hour, and 20 minutes of that was spent having NFI what to do, because all progress was stuck behind a wall that is actually something you can punch through (explained once in a skippable dialog, while permanent and repeatable hint text offers nothing of use).
