Riding a bicycle in traffic is dangerous. Drivers are blind when it comes to pedestrians and cyclists.

Drivers only see objects larger than they are. Down under trams are invisible, too.

#WindsorME - Share The Road With Carol

September 28 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

"The ninth annual Share The Road With Carol is an all-ages commemorative ride planned for September 28, 2025 in Windsor and Whitefield, Maine to honor the memory of #CarolEckert, M.D. Carol was tragically killed as a result of a bike accident that occurred in Windsor on October 10, 2016. The ride has 12- and 27-mile options and begins and ends at the Windsor Town Office (523 Ridge Road). There is one rest stop on the 27-mile route.

"This is a great opportunity to explore the rolling hills along the border of Kennebec and Lincoln Counties. Biking was Carol’s passion. Whether you knew her or not, we invite everyone who feels the same to join in remembrance of a life well-pedaled and to further the cause of bicycle safety in Maine. Registration opens July 31 at www.bikereg.com/share-the-road-with-carol. For additional info, visit our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/CarolsRide or email us at [email protected]."

Oh my goodness 😲!
Glad to hear you didn't fall.

That's the problem with the #ShareTheRoad way. The best really is the #Dutch way. Exclusive paths and good design at intersections. Impressive parking amenities at train stations too.

Can't have everything, eh? 😅

Special mention of the asshole driver in a #DodgeRam who overtook me on a bend, very close past me.

But, in general, car drivers drove around me at a considerable distance. 🙌

Pouring rain again now, so welcome here.

And biking in rain? For us, biking in light rain is refreshing—plus, we loved being greeted by this rainbow as we headed out.

But we knew by the sky it would be wise to shorten our riding today to minimal errands. As a result, we only had a couple miles biking in heavy downpour (for sure, not our favorite conditions, rain pounding our face),

We appreciate those bike-friendly drivers who realize, e.g., —that puddle on the road? Yeah, we’ll slow down so we don’t throw that extra water on the person biking alongside us.
