When you’re poor, you spend all your money. Only rich students or students with rich famiies (yep, I’d argue there’s a distiunction) can be full-time students without at least one part-time job.
And disabled people? We spend all our money on shit to make life slightly less miserable.
Carers similarly so, except they barely get a mention. They complete administrative dialysis for themselves and a whole other person — or people! On top of that, they do any personal care, medical care, etc that most people actually imagine from the phrase “unpaid carer”.
The only “economically inactive” thing about anyone subjected to life in an economy is rich people who hoard their money for clout. Each anxious attempt to swipe resources “for later” impoverishes us all AND the rich people acting on their emboldened impulses.
