@JessTheUnstill @GreenRoc Personally I wish for #RightToRepair to be mandated including access to #schematics, #parts, #firmware and #tools needed so #manufacturers would be forced to actually give a shit and build #RepairableTech...

Then again the #PerverseIncentives of #capitalism punish #HonestMerchants and #RepairableDesign because manufacturers don't give a shit about supporting their devices and work against their interests of the buyers!

Remember: Most folks are mere #consumers, not #owners and espechally not #tinkerers!

THIS is why #RaspberryPi were able to basically monopolize the #ARM - #SBC market for tinkerers because they are the only one's that actually build devices that just work out of the box and have #documentation, whereas all the competitors just fart out some PCBs and some hacked-up images and then tell people to 'go fuck themselves' when they don't want to just buy but do something with it!

And then you complain about it and some replyguys show up with a WeLl AkShUlLy you can build it yourself by taking this microcontroller and loading this specific software, and soldering it together with these various components and 3d printing a case and oh but the out of the box OS doesn't work right so you have to change these configuration and tweak the driver settings and ... @GreenRoc@mastodon.social @kkarhan@infosec.space

@djsundog Also it's more of a Declaration of Intent of the Manufacturer to not make a #Serviceable / #RepairableDesign and not provide #AfterSalesSupport...

If I was @EUCommission I'd mandate #Schematics and #RepairManuals as well as access to all #parts necessary to fix a system at FRAND terms by law.

This is certainly the circuit used, except instead of variable resistors they have undoubtely selected whatever 100, 75%, 50%, 25% on a SLA would be. (assuming this was originally an SLA battery in here). #schematics
