David Lattimore brags about his "performance tricks" at #RustForge, but let's be honest—it's basically a snooze-fest of linker benchmarks and optimizations 😴. If you're a fan of mutable slicing and struct SymbolId, well, then... you've found your hero! 🦸‍♂️✨

Wild Performance Tricks | David Lattimore

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the RustForge conference in Wellington, New Zealand. While there, I gave a talk about some of my favourite optimisations in the Wild linker.

Last week I had an amazing time at Rust Forge 🦀

🎸 Got on stage with a guitar and announced my new embedded @ratatui_rs project!

🇳🇿 Met so many incredible people & explored cool places in New Zealand!

💖 Huge shoutout to @timClicks for this wonderful event!

Rust Forge was so awesome though. Worth it!

Non exhaustive list of crates I learned about at #rustforge that I need to look at adopting for my own workflow

https://release-plz.dev releases Rust crates from CI with a release PR.

https://github.com/obi1kenobi/cargo-semver-checks lints your crate API changes for semver violations. This is actually run by release-plz.

https://github.com/EmbarkStudios/cargo-deny - lints your dependencies. I already use cargo-deny, it got a few shout outs at the conference so shouting it out here.

#rustforge was AWESOME! 🙌

So lucky to be part of a lovely #rustlang conference, here in my home of #wellington, #newzealand. Met lots of interesting people, learned some new Rust, enjoyed sharing my own creative passions. 🦀🥝

Thanks @timClicks for organizing. 💜

Thanks to @9names for helping out getting ratatui working on rp2040 over the past few days.

I now have a small demo app that uses my touch driver implementation and ratatui to implement a simple counter.

Off to the airport to fly back home. #RustForge was great and Wellington put on its best weather leading up to it. Now it’s raining and a bit miserable. Happpy to have met a bunch more rustaceans!

Ka kite anō

Really happy with having done a talk at #RustForge and been to Wellington for the past week. #RustLang users here may be geographically spread out but there’s a strong driving force behind everyone I met
