Like, I can tell you that across Canadian universities the productivity expectations for writing studies instructors have increased—e.g., in the form of student numbers—and they are not reasonable. #writingstudies #cdnpse #cdnwrds #teamrhetoric #rhetcomp

New blog post from me. How the publication of the "Houthi PC small group" story made me think of the limits of using genAI chatbots for writing. And how I turned that into a language-focused analysis with the students in my research writing course. #writingstudies #rhetcomp #teamrhetoric #cdnwrds

Looking for advice, resources, and textbook recommendations on
technical & professional writing.

I'm tutoring someone with extensive software development expertise who's now looking to improve her technical writing skills. She's also dyslexic, and any resources specific to strategies and pedagogies for adult learners with dyslexia would be appreciated.

It's been a long while since I've taught composition, and I was hoping the #rhetcomp community would have some suggestions. I appreciate your help!

Please feel free to tag anyone who you'd think I could benefit from following, too.

I have a new article out in the Journal für Schreibwissenschaft vol. 26 special issue on generative AI in writing centers and programs. If you don’t have institutional access, lmk and I can send a pdf.

Of course, AI tech is developing so quickly that articles are out of date upon publication; nonetheless, the model presented in this article can adapt as the tech continues to change.

(#wordnerd #Englishnerd #rhetcomp factoid of the day: that sentence above is an example of a chiasmus ;)

You'll see chiastic patterns in a lot of sonnets and poems.)

Of course I read that ridiculous Chronicle Review (lol) essay “Against the #WritingCenter “ and immediately lost my ability to be articulate about the utter ignorance on display about #WritingPrograms and #rhetcomp and WCs and the troubling opinions about what constitutes helpful written feedback for undergraduate (and graduate students)…
