#CAUT on #CanadianElection 2025:

In the last few weeks, we have seen growing threats to public post-secondary education.
US universities have been threatened with authoritarian interference and economic intimidation. In Canada, we’ve seen anti-education sentiments continue to grow.
We still have time to change minds as our friends and family members head to the polls.
While the challenge might feel daunting, we can start one conversation at a time.

As researchers in post-secondary education, let's join up from Coast to Coast to Coast to demonstrate and exercise our voting power. In #Elxn45, let's vote for federal candidates who recognise the importance of research to Canada’s success and prioritise excellence in research. #ResearchersVote #VotonsRecherche #CdnPoli #CdnPSE

Canadians I've asked are almost gleeful about rolling out the welcome mat for Americans who have/want to leave the U.S.. "Reverse brain drain! 😁"

But let's also dig deeper & ask where the funds to hire them will be coming from. Will provincial/federal governments pump more funding into universities (& granting councils)? Or will our colleagues on precarious contracts lose their jobs to hire star Americans?
