An open letter penned by a group of Manitoba researchers has garnered support from hundreds of other scientists and academics across the country, sounding the alarm about the effects of research cuts in the U.S. on Canadian research and urging federal political leaders to take action.

The Canadian Association of University Teachers says it released updated travel advice today due to the "political landscape" created by the Trump administration and reports of some Canadians encountering difficulties while crossing the border.
Canadians I've asked are almost gleeful about rolling out the welcome mat for Americans who have/want to leave the U.S.. "Reverse brain drain! π"
But let's also dig deeper & ask where the funds to hire them will be coming from. Will provincial/federal governments pump more funding into universities (& granting councils)? Or will our colleagues on precarious contracts lose their jobs to hire star Americans?
