Little by little, I rediscovered the magic of community as I contributed to the weird world of Reddit.

Now I feel acutely aware of how important it is for us to actively preserve our stuff outside corporate manipulation.

Wow. Rolling into Day 2 of #Rexit, and the vast majority of subreddits tracked on https://reddark.untone.uk/ seem to be participating.

I've reached for the app several times, but have managed to stay away. It's giving me more time to play around with #kbin, specifically this "magazine" (think subreddit) for the #AudioFiction community I'm testing live: https://kbin.social/m/audiofiction

And hey, if it works... why not? Even when the /r/audiodrama subreddit returns, I think I'll work on a solution to cross-posted to this federated version.

I miss #Reddit, but it's really nice to have so much of my life back. The mindless scrolling was consuming a huge chunk of my life.

I went for a bike ride last night just for kicks, and tonight I just might finish a project I've been tinkering with for months.

Trying to figure out what to do online without Reddit, I’m staying off it as many areas go dark in protest of upcoming changes. The proposed changes and how the owners are treating the community fit in well with Cory Doctorow’s theory he called the #enshittification of social media sites. #redditdark

One by one the lights go out.

I guess we can't trust corporate social media for literally anything. But they still have the vast majority of the user base and by extension all the feedback and actual "networking" opportunities.

Mastodon is never going to see mass adoption, not in its current form at least. #redditdark
